Club Brugge KV went two points clear at the top of the Eerste Klasse on Sunday after surviving a late comeback from RWD Molenbeek to win 3-2.

No hangover
Their capitulation to Olympique Lyonnais in the UEFA Cup on Thursday, when they lost 3-0 in France to be knocked out of the competition, did not seem to worry Brugge as they tore into an early lead.

Lange scores second
In the eighth minute Gaëtan Englebert ran into the box, passed to Andrés Mendoza, and the Peruvian striker stroked home the opener. Three minutes before the break Molenbeek defender Jimmy Smet played a loose ball back to his goalkeeper only to see Rune Lange pounce to slot the ball home from close range for Brugge's second.

Fine strike
In the 57th-minute Sandy Martens made it 3-0 with a long-range effort, and Brugge appeared to be cruising to victory. But a minute later, Alexandre Kolotilko curled a glorious shot into the top corner for Molenbeek and the home side rediscovered some belief.

Nervous defending
Three minutes from time, Mike Origi benefited from some nervous Brugge defending to fire in a second but it was too little too late for Molenbeek.
