Ümit on target
Mircea Lucescu’s side built up a 2-0 lead in the first half with goals from Ümit Karan and Bülent Korkmaz. Ümit tapped home Ergün Penbe’s left-wing cross after 13 minutes and Bülent then fired home the rebound after Berkant Goktan's shot had hit the post to complete a comfortable victory.
Ankaragücü triumph
It also finished 2-0 at the 19 Mayis stadium as MKE Ankaragücü secured a comfortable win against Antalyaspor. The home side took the lead in spectacular style as Huseyin Kartal scored with a third-minute overhead kick, and Yilmaz Özlem added a stylish second from a 20-metre free-kick.
Maltyaspor stifle Istanbulspor
Malatyaspor put a dent in Istanbulspor AS’s title challenge with a 2-0 win, their goals arriving from Evren Nuri Turhan and Mithat Yavas in a three-minute spell just after half-time. In Saturday’s other game Gençlerbirligi SK secured a 2-1 win away at Diyarbakirspor.
