Article body
FC Karabakh Agdam opened the second half of the Azerbaijani season with a 2-0 win at FC Shahdag Qusar on Saturday.
Rzaev in fine form
Shahin Diniev's side totally outplayed their hosts and new signing Vidadi Rzaev was in sparkling form as a goal in either half of the rearranged tie gave Agdam a comfortable victory.
Debut goal
The visitors opened the scoring after 39 minutes when Rzaev was fouled inside the area by Qusar goalkeeper Tamerlan Mejidov. The 34-year-old promptly dusted himself down and struck home the resulting penalty for a goal on his debut for Agdam.
Kudinov fires home
Agdam continued to dominate in the second half but despite creating a number of chances, they only scored one more goal. Dmitriy Kudinov picked up the ball on the halfway line before drifting past three Qusar defenders and sliding the ball past Mejidov.
Back in action
The Yuksek Deste resumes in earnest on 27 February with FC Neftchi and FC Shamkir currently leading the division. Saturday's game was a rescheduled tie from the first half of the season, and the result leaves Qusar third from bottom of the table, albeit 12 points clear of winless FC Dinamo-Bakili.
