Birkirkara FC are back on top of the Maltese Premier League after emphatically beating Naxxar Lions FC 6-1.
Brincat opener
Joe Brincat gave Birkirkara the lead after knocking a rebound into the net. A minute before half-time Naxxar drew level through Daniel Bogdanovic. Birkirkara’s reaction was immediate - Angelo Galea received a nice pass from Calascione to put his side ahead again on the stroke of half-time.
Second-half goals
Six minutes into the second half Camenzuli struck the third goal for Birkirkara. The onslaught continued on 71 minutes when Matthew Calascione found room to score the fourth for his side. Seven minutes later Michael Galea's eleventh goal of the season put Birikirkara 5-1 up. Camenzuli's second goal on 82 minutes completed the scoring.
Dramatic comeback
Meanwhile, Hibernians FC title challenge was maintained with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Marsa FC. Donovan Friggieri put the men from Marsa ahead on 36 minutes. Four minutes later Ndubisi Chukyunyere powered his way into the Marsa defence to score Hibernians’ equaliser.
Scerri the matchwinner
Marsa's Yugoslavian striker Igor Stefanovic put his side ahead again after 77 minutes with a well-taken effort. However, two goals from 17-year-old Terence Scerri on 79 and 81 minutes secured a precious three points for Hibernians.
