Champions FC Pyunik kicked off their defence of their Armenian title today with a 3-1 home victory.
Pyunik on top
Pyunik raced into a two-goal half-time lead against Yerevan rivals FC Banants thanks to strikes from Arman Karamian in the seventh minute and Hovhannes Antonian after 24 minutes. Diavara Mamadou made it 3-0 four minutes after the hour mark before Yeghishe Melikian hit a late consolation 16 minutes from time for the visitors.
MIKA grab a win
FC Zvartnots AAL, who finished third last season, got their campaign off to a poor start after slipping to a 1-0 home defeat against FC MIKA with Armen Shahgeldian hitting the game's only goal two minutes from the end. In today's other game FC Karabakh Yerevan and FC Lernagorts shared the points in a 1-1 draw.
