FC Sochaux-Montbéliard have signed Jimmy Algerino from AC Venezia until the end of the season.

FC Sochaux-Montbéliard have signed defender Jimmy Algerino from Serie A side AC Venezia until the end of the season.

Defensive cover
He had a contract with the struggling Italian club until June 2003 but Sochaux persuaded Venezia to release the 30-year-old. The French side were desperate for defensive cover, with Erwan Manac'h facing a six-month lay-off with a cruciate knee-ligament injury and Omar Daf on international duty with Senegal in Africa.

League debut
Algerino is likely to make his Sochaux debut against Le Championnat leaders RC Lens on 30 January.
