Article body
A poor second-half performance cost R. Standard de Liège three valuable points as they fell to a 2-1 away defeat against RWD Molenbeek in the Belgian first division on Sunday.
Crucial breakthrough
Standard looked to be in control at half-time after making the crucial breakthrough in the 33rd minute when Gonzague Vandooren headed home Didier Ernst's inviting cross. But the match turned on its head in the space of two second-half minutes, as striker Ivica Jarakovic's effort came back off the crossbar in the 68th minute and French midfield player Bernard Allou had the simple task of slotting in the equaliser from close range.
Red Card
Two minutes later, Jarakovic made his way down the right flank and, after his cross deflected off a Standard defender, Michael Origi made no mistake at the far post. It got worse for Standard two minutes from time when Joseph Enakarhire picked up a second yellow card after a tackle on substitute Jonathan Butera.
Excelsior in charge
Steve Dugardein's 78th-minute winner earned R. Excelsior Mouscron the points with a 1-0 home win against KFC Lommelse SK in the day's other game. Dugardein played a neat one-two with Zoran Ban before picking his spot with a crisp shot from outside the area.
