Sochaux agree Lonfat deal

Swiss international Johann Lonfat will join FC Sochaux-Montbéliard from Servette FC in July.

French club FC Sochaux-Montbéliard have confirmed that Swiss international Johann Lonfat will join the club from Servette FC in July.

One-year contract
Sochaux announced on Monday that the 28-year-old midfield player has signed a one-year contract with the club and coach Jean Fernandez has expressed his satisfaction with Lonfat's recruitment, saying: "Lonfat is versatile, aggressive and possesses a good sense of the game, all important qualities for modern football."

Playing career
Lonfat began his career with Lausanne-Sports in 1991, making six appearances, before transferring to rivals FC Sion. After six seasons and over 120 games for the club, Lonfat headed west to join Servette in 1998.

Eighth place
Sochaux are currently in eighth place in the French first division table, while Servette will compete in an eight-team play-off for the Swiss championship when their season resumes in February.
