A home defeat halted R. Standard de Liège’s progress on Saturday but KFC Lommelse SK triumphed.

A surprise home defeat halted R. Standard de Liège’s league progress on Saturday but KFC Lommelse SK tasted victory.

Standard slump at home
Standard slipped from fourth place in the table to sixth after losing 3-1 to K. Sint Truiden VV. An excellent individual goal from Danny Boffin opened the scoring for the visitors after 29 minutes and he was involved in the move that led to Marcos Perreira’s goal a minute before half-time.

Verjans seals victory
Michel Preud’homme’s side pulled a goal back immediately when Michael Goossens exploited indecisive defending from Harold Meyssen's free-kick, but Gunther Verjans ended any hope of a draw for Standard with a goal ten minutes from time for the visitors.

Lommel thrive
Two goals in a minute helped to ease Lommel’s relegation worries as they marched towards a victory against KVC Westerlo. Twan Scheepers and Richard Culek both scored goals after four minutes but Lommelse had to wait until the 60th minute for Mirek Waligora’s goal to kill off the tie.

Gent thwarted
KAA Gent had a frustrating evening at home to Sporting Lokeren St-Niklaas Waasland as they struggled their way towards a 1-1 draw. Patrick Zoundi gave the visitors a surprise lead in the 59th minute after collecting Amar Vidarsson's pass and rounding the keeper and there were some nervous moments at the Jules Ottenstadion before Greek striker Alexandros Kaklamanos headed home from a corner for Gent’s equaliser 14 minutes from time.

No joy for Charleroi
In Saturday's other matches nothing could separate KFC Germinal Beerschot Antwerpen and RWD Molenbeek as they played out a 2-2 draw, while R. Charleroi SC slipped to a 2-0 home defeat against improving R. Excelsior Mouscron.
