FA Premiership side Leicester City FC have sold record-signing Ade Akinbiyi to first division Crystal Palace FC for €4m.
Bottom of the table
Palace confirmed on Tuesday that the 27-year-old Akinbiyi, who has scored three goals this season but none in his last eleven matches for Leicester, the Premiership's bottom club, had signed a contract that runs until the end of this campaign and then for a further three seasons.
'It did hurt me'
Akinbiyi, who scored 13 goals in 67 appearances for Leicester after signing for €8m from Wolverhampton Wanderers FC in July 2000, insisted his form has not suffered because of the criticism levelled at him this season. "It did hurt me a bit but the only people it might have affected was my family," he said. "I'm big enough and strong enough to handle it. I just want to get back to what I was doing before and that's scoring goals."
