Early lead
The visitors took an early lead through Rashad Abdullayev, and doubled their advantage ten minutes later when Aliyev struck the first of his two goals. Huseyn Hasanov briefly threatened a Shakhdag fightback two minutes after the interval, but Aliyev restored the two-goal cushion on the hour mark.
Relegation problems
Khazar remain in seventh place in the Yuksek Deste, but have narrowed the gap on sixth-placed Turan to two points. Qusar remain precariously balanced, four points above the relegation places.
Match postponed
Tonight’s game between FC Araz and FC Tefekkur University was postponed after Araz refused to comply with an Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) ruling that the game be played at a neutral venue, rather than at their own Ahundlu Stadium.
