Article body
Grazer AK's slim title hopes were dealt a major blow tonight when they were beaten 1-0 at FC Kärnten.
Grazer stumble
With champions FC Tirol Innsbruck eleven points clear at the top Grazer needed a win to make up ground but despite having numerous attempts on goal the visitors just could not break through. They were left to rue their missed chances, as Mario Maric headed home following a free-kick from Thomas Höller on 77 minutes.
Rapid ease home
Lothar Matthaus' SK Rapid Wien left it late against basement side VfB Admira Wacker Mödling but eventually ran out 1-0 winners. Macien Adamski grabbed the only goal of the game with 13 minutes of the match remaining after latching onto a corner from Roman Wallner.
Wien stride on
FK Austria Wien strolled to a comfortable 3-0 win over Schwarz-Weiss Bregenz. Wien went into the break just a goal ahead thanks to a 14th-minute strike from Roland Linz, who pounced on a mistake from Lars Unger. Jirí Rosicky was dismissed for Bregenz after just 33 minutes to make matters worse.
Mayrleb on target
Linz was instrumental in the second goal five minutes after the break when his pass found Christian Mayrleb. Just 10 minutes later Wien made it 3-0 when Mayrleb grabbed his eighth goal of the season with a header from an Ernst Dospel cross.
Ried grab the points
SV Ried picked up a vital 1-0 away win against fourth placed SV Austria Salzburg. Salzburg had the best early chances, with Richard Kitzbichler's cross hitting the crossbar. Kitzbichler was nearly on target again just after the half hour but his shot forced a good save from keeper Milan Oraze. Seven minutes into the second half, Ried secured the points, Zeljko Radovic volleying Herbert Grassler's cross home.
