Cypriot champions Omonia FC secured a vital 2-1 win over Enosis Neon Paralimni FC in Nicosia on Sunday to move within three points of Division A leaders APOEL Nicosia FC.
Rauffmann on target
Rainer Rauffmann pounced on a curling cross from Cypriot international defender Georgos Theodotou to grab his eighth goal of the season ten minutes before half-time and Alexis Pittas doubled the lead straight after the break. Battling Enosis pulled a goal back through Georgos Kolanis with 15 minutes to go but Omonia held on to take all three points.
Dumitrescu sees red
Alki FC coach Ilie Dumitrescu was sent off late in his side's game with struggling Ermis Aradippos FC, but two goals in the last six minutes gave Alki the points. Stubborn Ermis were finally broken down when Ljubisa Kekic scored from the penalty spot in the 84th minute. Alkis Ioannou sealed the victory moments later with a powerful shot that left goalkeeper Stelios Stylianou stranded.
