Hapoel Tel-Aviv moved back to the top of the Ligat ha-Al with a convincing 2-0 home win against Beitar Jerusalem at Bloomfield on Monday.
Balili on target
Pini Balili opened the scoring in the 24th minute, before Asaf Domb, playing against his former club, secured a valuable three points with a second goal twelve minutes from time.
Surprise defeat
Hapoel trailed leaders Maccabi Haifa going into this weekend’s round of matches but were offered the chance to take the top spot when Maccabi Kiriat-Gat produced the shock result of the season. The bottom club, with only five away goals to their credit all season, humiliated Maccabi 4-1 in the Kiriat Eliezer Municipality stadium on Saturday.
