Davor Suker is set to join new coach Miroslav Blazevic at NK Osijek but only as a member of the club's board.

Financial commitment
The TSV 1860 München striker will continue playing for the 1. Bundesliga side, but will have to make certain financial commitments to Osijek, the club where he started his professional career. Suker should officially become a member of Osijek's board at the annual general meeting on 8 March.

'Help the club'
Coach Blazevic said: "Davor influenced me to take a job with Osijek, so now I have asked him to join and help the club. I know it sounds ridiculous but don't be surprised if he plays for Osijek in the cup finals."

Free agent
Suker joined 1860 in November 2001 in a bid to make the Croatia squad for the 2002 FIFA World Cup. He arrived there as a free agent after quitting West Ham United FC the previous summer, where he made just eight starts.

Real star
Suker, 34, who won the Golden Boot at the 1998 FIFA World Cup with six goals, scored 110 goals in 220 games while at Real Madrid FC, helping them to the Spanish title in 1997 and the UEFA Champions League in 1998. He is also Croatia's all-time record scorer.
