FK Austria Wien goalkeeper Franz Wohlfahrt has announced his retirement from the game.
Fourth in the pecking order
The 37-year-old former Austrian international has decided to hang up his gloves after slumping to fourth in the goalkeeping pecking order at the Franz Horr stadium, behind Marc Ziegler, Helge Payer and Wolfgang Knaller.
'Best solution'
"Twenty years as a professional player have left too many marks on my body so we have agreed to cancel my contract," he said. "It's the best solution for both sides."
Experienced international
Wohlfahrt is in his second spell at the club after a stint at German club VfB Stuttgart. The last of his 59 caps for Austria came in the 5-0 FIFA World Cup play-off defeat to Turkey in November last year.
'Two months off'
"Now I will take two months off and then I will know what I am going to do in the future," said Wohlfahrt, who owns his own public relations company.
