Olympique Lyonnais forward Frédéric Née is to undergo surgery on his broken left big toe and will be sidelined for around six months.
Played on
Née picked up the injury during a reserve match on Sunday when he collided with the opposition goalkeeper. However, the 27-year-old forward, who had scored twice, played on, not realising the extent of the damage.
Promising season
Née, who joined Lyon from SC Bastia at the start of the French season, has played 18 Le Championnnat games this term, scoring twice and helping the club climb to second and into a UEFA Champions League spot.
European appearances
He also made four Champions League appearances in the first group stage - scoring once in the 4-2 victory over Bayer 04 Leverkusen - and featured in three UEFA Cup games.
