Austrian Bundesliga club SV Ried have sacked coach Alfred Tatar and replaced him Gerhard Scweitzer, his assistant, until the end of the season.
Humbling Cup defeat
Tatar was sacked after less than a year in charge following the Viennese club's 2-1 defeat by second division LASK Linz in the Austrian Cup fourth round.
'Catastrophically bad'
"The match against LASK was catastrophically bad," Tatar said. "It was clear what would happen. Still, the club decision to let me go has hit me strongly. I have spent some beautiful time in Ried and I wish the club all the best. They gave me a chance and I thank them."
Players fined
Not only was the 38-year-old Tatar sacked, but the Ried players were all fined for their poor performance in the cup match. Club manager Helmut Slezak refused to reveal the extent of the fine but did say: "The fine consists of six zeros in Austrian shillings." Ried are third from bottom in the league and battling to avoid relegation.
