Members

AS Roma's Francesco Totti has been ruled out of his side's Serie A defence for three weeks.

AS Roma’s hopes of retaining the Serie A title has been hit by the news that captain Francesco Totti will be ruled out of action for at least three weeks.

Thigh injury
Totti picked up a thigh injury during Italy’s friendly against England last week and was forced to sit out Roma‘s clash with Bologna FC on Sunday.

News confirmed
Scans have confirmed that the injury does need to be rested which mean Totti missing crucial matches against AC Venezia and Parma AC.

Forced to rest
"I felt the problem only a few minutes into the game [against England]," said Totti. "I thought the pain would disappear but I still feel it and I will now have to rest."

Eight goals
Attacking midfield player Totti has scored eight goals for Roma this season, and is a central part of Italy’s plans for the 2002 FIFA World Cup finals.

Five matches left
With five matches remaining Roma trail league leaders Internazionale FC by three points and need to win against Venezia and Parma to keep the pressure on their Milanese rivals.
