FK Ventspils keep up their 100 per cent record, while FC Skonto stay in touch with a victory.

Seven up for Ventspils

Pavels Kolcovs gave the hosts a surprise lead on 55 minutes, but Bulgarian defender Gospodin Gospodinov restored parity ten minutes later. Vits Rimkus's late clincher then secured the points and avenged his team's defeat by Dinaburg on the last day of last season which handed the title to Skonto.

The champions eased past Liepajas 3-0 in Riga. A goal on the stroke of half-time by Latvian international Maris Verpakovskis sent them on their way before Mihails Miholaps and Levan Korgalidze completed the rout.

Riga rock bottom
Elsewhere, FK Valmieria thrashed FK Riga 4-1 with goals from Ronald Kragliks, Dzintars Savalnieks, Janis Zujevs and Gatis Erglis. Vitalijs Parmalis grabbed a consolation for the visitors.

PFK defeated
Like Riga, PFK/Daugava were left stuck on three points at the bottom of the first division after they lost 3-0 at FC Auda, the team directly above them. Pavels Korcagins scored twice with Aleksejs Visnjakovs getting the other.
