De Bilde on target
Gilles de Bilde's eleventh goal of the season got Anderlecht off to the best possible start against fourth-placed Excelsior. De Bilde benefited following a tackle by Excelsior defender Koen de Vleeschaumer on Alin Stoica, the ball running kindly for him to fire in.
Mpenza equaliser
But Excelsior equalised 12 minutes before half-time when Mbo Mpenza exchanged passes with Michal Zewlakov to lob Anderlecht goalkeeper Filip de Wilde. The result leaves Anderlecht in third spot with Excelsior one place and six points behind.
Lokeren held by Antwerp
Struggling R. Antwerp FC managed to pick up a point on their travels against seventh-placed Sporting Lokeren St-Niklaas Waasland. In a match containing little passion, Antwerp appeared content to go for the point and defend against Lokeren's attack, with neither goalkeeper seriously troubled throughout.
