Púchov end Zilina's double hopes

Members

ŠKM Púchov and FK VTJ KOBA Senec advanced to the final of the Slovakian Cup on Tuesday.

MŠK Zilina's hopes of a domestic double were thwarted on Tuesday as ŠKM Púchov beat them 2-0 in their Slovakian Cup semi-final second leg.

Muzlay opener
Púchov's win completed a 3-0 aggregate victory over the 1. Liga leaders, with Jozef Muzlay and Juraj Skripec the heroes. Leading 1-0 from a hard-fought first-leg encounter, Púchov went ahead in the 33rd minute when Muzlay scored to silence the Zilina fans.

Red card
Skripec added a second on the stroke of half-time, before Zilina were reduced to ten men when Dusan Sninsky was sent off in injury time.

Senec through
Púchov will face FK VTJ KOBA Senec in the final after second division overcame a single-goal first-leg deficit to complete a convincing 3-1 aggregate win over BSC Bardejov. The incentive of a place in the qualifying round of the UEFA Cup for the domestic cup winners should ensure a thrilling final.

Takac double
Bardejov, also from the second tier of the Slovakian league, saw their 1-0 advantage erased three minutes into the second half as Erik Takac scored the first of his two goals. Patrik Volf put the hosts further ahead in the 57th minute, before Takac completed the scoring after 65 minutes.
