Article body
Maccabi Tel-Aviv chalked up another victory as they beat Maccabi Netanya 2-1 tonight to take their point tally to 53 and increase their chance of finishing third in the table.
Goldberg again
Tel-Aviv captain Avi Nimni headed his team into the lead four minutes after the start to score his 13th goal of the season. Then, in the 68th minute, Rodrigo Goldberg - who scored a hat-trick in the week, doubled the visitors' lead after breaking into Netanya's area and firing a low shot that beat Martin Peshko to mark his eleventh league goal.
UEFA Cup hope
Seven minutes from time, Guy Zarfati who joined Netanya on loan from Tel-Aviv earlier this season, scored a consolation goal for the hosts with a long-range effort. While Tel-Aviv are concentrating on Tuesday's Cup semi-final as they seek to secure a place in next season's UEFA Cup, Netanya have yet to secure another season in the top flight.
Two for Kubika
Elsewhere tonight, Hapoel Beer-Sheva were beaten 3-1 at home by FC Ashdod. The defeat means Beer-Sheva have failed to win in their last six matches, conceding 15 goals in the process. Ashdod's Polish striker Andzej Kubika scored twice for the visitors to take his tally to nine goals this season. Moshe Ohayon scored Ashdod's third. In the 69th minute, Rami Abu Laben scored a consolation goal for the hosts which proved too little too late.
