A dominant Kaunas had to wait until the 89th minute to make the breakthrough, however, when Andrius Puotkalis struck to secure the three points. For Atlantas, this was a third straight loss, leaving them seven points behind the leaders in third place.

Meanwhile, FK Zalgiris Vilnius could only draw at 1. Lyga new boys FK Suduva. Darius Miceika gave Zalgiris an eighth-minute lead but Andrius Larcenka equalised after half-time. Zalgiris, who also had defender Evgeny Zuk sent off, lie four points behind Kaunas in second place.

Meanwhile, FK Inkaras made a winning start under new coach Farid Zangirov as they beat the bottom club, FK Nevézis. Vidas Kauspadas scored the only goal at Nevezis to lift Inkaras out of the relegation zone.
