Finland round-up: Alvarez keeps Inter top

FC Inter Turku continued their impressive start to the Finnish Veikkausliiga season tonight with a 3-1 win against FF Jaro to move four points clear at the top of the table.

Two goals in five first-half minutes from Luciano Alvarez with the game just 16 minutes old put the home side firmly in control. Ridvan Zeneli gave Jaro hope when he pulled a goal back in the 18th minute, but despite a few nervous moments in the second half, Gabriel Alejandro Flores put the seal on the victory with a third goal for Inter in the last minute.

Slip-up
Second-placed Myllykosken Pallo-47 lost ground on the leaders after going down to a 3-1 home defeat against FC Jazz. Vasili Marchis put Jazz ahead after 14 minutes before a double strike from Toni Junnila, who scored in the 20th and 32nd minutes, ended the game as a contest. MyPa's Marco Manso grabbed a consolation goal three minutes after half-time.

Victorious Vaasa
Tampere United FC continued their improvement after a poor start to the first division season with a 2-0 away win at FC Lahti thanks to goals from Jari Niemi (41) and Ville Lehtinen (90). In the other match played tonight, VPS Vaasa beat FC Hämeenlinna 2-1.
