Three-goal salvo
The defending Norwegian champions hit three goals in 14 first-half minutes to overcome their opponents. Christer George opened the floodgates after 28 minutes and Ørjan Berg and Harald Brattbakk also got on the scoresheet before the break.
Brann triumphant
In the evening's other games, SK Brann moved up to ninth after cruising to a 4-1 win against Stabæk IF. Thorstein Helstad struck twice and Erlend Hanstveit also scored to put the hosts 3-0 in front at the interval. Petter Furuseth-Olsen increased Brann's advantage before Christian Wilhemsson pulled one back for Stabaek from the penalty spot in the 66th minute.
Honours even in Lillestrom
Meanwhile, Lillestrøm SK and Moss FK shared the points in a 1-1 draw at the Åråsen stadium. Kjell Olofsson put Moss in front but a Torjus Hansen penalty restored parity four minutes later. The match between Sogndal IL and Bryne FK was postponed.
