Article body
FK Bodø/Glimt striker Bengt Sæternes showed just why Rosenborg BK are chasing his signature by hitting a hat-trick against the reigning Tippeligaen champions tonight as his side went down to a 4-3 defeat.
All square
Rosenborg captain Erik Hoftun opened the scoring with a scrambled effort in the 35th minute but Sæternes, who recently turned down a €1.4m move to the club, was quick to reply with a powerful header four minutes before half-time to level the match.
Brattbakk strike
Harald Brattbakk collected a fine pass from full-back Janne Saarinen and rounded Bodø keeper Tor Egil Horn for his seventh goal of the season to put Rosenborg ahead again four minutes after the break. The hosts looked to be home and dry when Azar Karadas made it 3-1 and Christer George finished a great move after 73 minutes for the fourth.
Top goalscorer
But Sæternes was not finished. Vegard Sannes sent him through for his second of the evening before he got his third after a delightful lob over Rosenborg keeper Arni Árason. Sæternes is now the Tippeligaen's top marksman with eight goals.
Bad error
At the other end of the table IK Start earned their first victory of the season with a 2-0 win away at Moss FK. Moss keeper Per Morten Kristiansen made a mess of a clearance in the 16th minute, hitting it straight at Morten Knudsen, who presented Fredrik Stromstad with a simple tap-in. Terje Leonhardsen made it two from close range, leaving Moss still in search of their first home win of the season. Start climbed above Moss into 12th place.
Swift start
Leaders SFK Lyn missed a hatful of chances against bottom of the table Sogndal IL, but still came out on top thanks to a beautifully curled free-kick from Per Egil Swift on 13 minutes. Sogndal made it even worse for themselves when Rune Johansen was dismissed after a challenge on Lyn playmaker Jonny Hanssen on the half hour mark.
Molde win
Second in the table Molde FK maintained their title challenge with a 2-0 win against Vålerenga Fotball. It took Molde until two minutes after the interval to make the breakthrough and it was striker André Schei Lindbæk who smashed the ball into the top left-hand corner of the net for his third goal in two games. Just eight minutes later he was at it again when Anders Hassegård's crossed from the left and Lindbæk made no mistake with a free header.
Other results
Odds BK kept hold of third place after an easy 3-1 win at home against Bryne FK. Midfield player Trygve Nygaard was man of the match as Viking FK humiliated SK Brann 4-1. Elsewhere, Lillestrøm SK suffered a 2-1 home defeat against Stabæk IF - a result which puts Stabæk into fifth place in the table, while Lillestrøm are ninth.
