Article body
Sogndal IL moved out of the drop zone as they came from behind to crush Lillestrøm SK 5-2 today.
Lillestrøm ahead
Lillestrøm took an early lead through newcomer Frode Birkeland on 14 minutes. He connected with a free-kick at the near post to score his first goal for the club since joining from SFK Lyn recently.
Penalty conversion
Sogndal struck back after 25 minutes, as Lillestrøm captain Torgeir Bjarmann fouled Dag Christian Sørum in the area and Rune Bolseth converted the penalty.
Rain in Sogndal
Both sides wasted some good chances as the rain started the pour down at newly-promoted Sogndal's Fosshaugane stadium, but the hosts finally made their opportunities count.
Two for Bolseth
Tommy Øren's cross was met by Sørum who side-footed the ball past Lillestrøm's South African goalkeeper Emile Baron to make it 2-1 in the 35th minute and just three minutes later it was 3-1, with Bolseth the man on target again, pouncing after striker Havard Flo beat Baron in the air.
Flo out-jumps Baron
Lillestrøm then lost their influential captain Bjarmann through injury and Sørum added to their misery with his second goal of the evening on 56 minutes to make it 4-1. Flo made it five when he out-jumped Baron again 16 minutes from time.
Birkeland lifts the gloom
There was little to cheer about for Lillestrøm, but new boy Birkeland at least gave their supporters something to cheer about when he scored his side's second goal - and his own second goal of the evening - from the penalty spot in the last minute.
