FK Ventspils continued their brilliant run with a 3-1 win against FK Auda.
Shock lead
Virsliga newcomers Auda took a shock lead after 42 minutes, as Juris Idionovs scored after a rare mistake by the Ventspils defence, but Ventspils quickly recovered to record their ninth straight victory thanks to second-half goals from Sergey Zangareev, Vits Rimkus and Igoris Stukalinas.
Unregistered player
Ventspils' main title rivals FC Skonto also recorded a win as they overcame local rivals FK Riga 3-0. Viktors Morozs, Mihails Miholaps and Aleksandrs Eliseevs scored the goals and to make matters worse, Riga also fielded an unregistered player Ilmars Labuds, although match delegate Georgijs Gusarenko has ruled that the result and scorers will stand as played.
Added-time goal
Elsewhere, it took FHK Liepajas Metalurgs 90 minutes to overcome PFK/Daugava, with Alexnder Katasonov scoring in the added time for a 1-0 victory. Metalurgs could have taken the lead earlier, but a Viktors Dobrecovs penalty was turned away by Pavels Doroshevs. In Valmiera, FK Dinaburg beat FK Valmiera 2-1.
