FC Flora remain top of the Estonian first division table after a 2-1 win against FC Levadia Tallinn on Friday.
Flora force
The first game after a three-week break in Estonia provided its share of drama but Flora came out on top after a suitably competitive local derby. The reigning champions should have opened the scoring in the first half with Joel Lindpere hitting the post after 21 minutes and Pavel Apalinski skewing a shot just wide a minute later.
Surprise lead
When the goals did come, they came in a feverish five-minute spell in the second half. Having weathered the first half storm, Levadia began to exert pressure and were rewarded by Ruslan Jagudin's strike in the 62nd minute.
Quick response
The league leaders hit back just a minute later through a Tor Henning Hamre header and then Lindpere fired Flora into the lead in the 67th minute. The result leaves Flora four points clear of TVMK Tallinn at the top of the table, although Flora have played two more games. Levadia are now second from bottom with just nine points from 12 games.
