Sakiri completes England switch

Members

F.Y.R. Macedonia captain Artim Sakiri has left PFC CSKA Sofia for West Bromwich Albion FC.

Nominal fee
The 29-year-old midfield player has joined from Bulgarian champions PFC CSKA Sofia for a nominal fee, subject to passing a medical and receiving a work permit. Sakiri, who famously scored direct from a corner in a 2-2 draw with England last October, came close to joining West Brom in the January transfer window but the move fell through.

Important figure
Sakiri joined CSKA last summer and quickly became an important figure in the side, scoring five goals and providing five assists in 20 matches, although his form dipped in the second half of the season.

International experience
Sakiri has won 52 caps for F.Y.R. Macedonia, scoring 13 goals in the process. Aside from CSKA, he has also played for FK Vardar in his homeland and Turkish Super League side Malatyaspor, among others. West Brom were relegated from the Premiership in May after just one season back in the top flight.
