Alan Kirby scored the only goal of the game as Longford Town FC earned their first win of the season against Shamrock Rovers FC tonight.

Ferguson and Silke impress
Rovers dictated most of the play but their attack was well marshalled by Barry Ferguson and Tom Silke at the back for Longford, who restricted the Rovers front men to long range efforts. Longford always looked dangerous on the break and created chances for Seamus Crowe and Eric Levine during the first half.
