Vittek on form
Róbert Vittek was the hero for the home side, scoring twice to push his team into the top half of the table. Vittek opened his account on 33 minutes and although Spartak were back on level terms by half-time through Erik Jezík's 44th-minute effort, Vittek popped up to get the 74th-minute winner.
Zilina hit five
Slovan's local rivals AŠK Inter Bratislava had a miserable day, losing 5-0 at MŠK Zilina. Marek Mintál opened the scoring after just four minutes at the Pod Dubnom stadium. After half-time, things got considerably worse for the visitors with Petr Gottwald adding a second from the penalty spot after 48 minutes before a goal from Dušan Sninsky, a Mintál penalty and a late Marek Bazik strike.
Košice win away
1. FC Košice's good early-season form continued with a 2-0 away victory at MŠK Ruzomberok, while ŠKM Púchov pushed towards the top of the table with a 3-0 home success against FK ZTS Dubnica. In the evening's final game, the two bottom sides faced off with FK Dukla Trencín closing the gap on FC Artmedia Petrzalka with a 2-0 home win.
