Republic of Ireland round-up: Bohemians hold top spot

Members

Bohemian FC remain top despite a 1-1 draw against Cork City FC on Friday night.

Harkin strike
John O'Flynn put Cork ahead in the 34th minute and they looked to be heading for victory until Fergal Harkin fired in the equaliser in the 90th minute.

Bray triumph
In the night's other game, two second-half goals from Jason Byrne and one from Barry O'Connor were enough to hand Bray Wanderers AFC the three points from their clash with Drogheda United FC.

Late surge
O'Connor struck after seven minutes but it was an hour before Bray extended their lead through Byrne's brace. Drogheda made a late surge and were rewarded with two goals from Kevin O'Brien, the second from the penalty spot.

UCD fight back
In Saturday's game, University College Dublin FC came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw away at Longford Town FC while Dublin rivals Shamrock Rovers FC and Shelbourne FC played out a scoreless draw at Tolka Park, Dublin on Monday.

Shelbourne stay third
Shelbourne remained third in the table after this game, and were unlucky not to take all three points. Ollie Cahill and Mark Roberts came close for Shelbourne in the first half, as Pat Fenlon's side dominated the opening 45 minutes.

Mazy run
The highlight of the match came during the first half, when a mazy run by Shelbourne's Irish Under-21 international Wesley Houlihan took him past three Shamrock Rovers defenders and goalkeeper Robbie Horgan before his goalbound effort was cleared off the line. Shamrock improved in the second half, and shared the chances in a tight match. However, both sides had to settle for a point, with Shamrock remaining second from bottom.
