Norway round-up: Rosenborg steal a march on rivals

Members

Rosenborg BK moved a step closer to retaining the league title with victory at Molde FK.

Five high for Rosenborg
The defending champions extended their lead over Molde to five points after first-half goals from Harald Brattbakk and Frode Johnsen put them in the ascendancy at the Molde stadium. While Thomas Mork pulled one back for the home side after the break, it was not enough to deny Rosenborg a fifth straight victory in the Tippeligaen.

Bad Start for Lyn
Which was bad news for the team they have overtaken at the top of the table, SFK Lyn. The Oslo outfit played on Sunday and could only draw 2-2 at bottom club IK Start. Surprised by goals from Donatas Vencevicius and Morten Knutsen, Lyn needed a last-minute own goal by Lars Martin Engedal to rescue a point after Tommy Berntsen had reduced the deficit. They remain three off the summit, however.

Points cajoled by Kjolo
Meanwhile, a Mike Kjolo effort gave Stabæk IF a home 1-0 win against SK Brann - lifting them level on points with Molde. But fifth-placed Viking FK's hopes of holding on to the leaders' coat-tails took a dent when they were held 0-0 by hosts Vålerenga Fotball.

Odd result
Elsewhere, Lillestrøm SK prevailed 2-0 in the relegation battle at Moss FK, while the side hovering a point above the drop zone - and Lillestrøm - Sogndal IL went down 3-0 at Bryne FK. Finally, Odds BK consolidated their sixth position with an impressive 3-1 success at FK Bodø/Glimt.
