Advantage Újpest
The Lilacs prevailed 3-0 at the Megyeri úti stadium, but had to work hard for the points with all the goals coming in the second half. Zoltán Kovács broke the deadlock on the hour, then sealed the win three minutes from the end after Henrik Rósa had doubled the advantage. Újpest's first home success lifted them into sixth place while Ferencváros dropped to third.
MTK lead
It was another capital club, MTK Hungária FC, who continued as leaders after they beat visitors Siófoki BSE 1-0. Györi ETO FC moved into second spot with a 4-1 thrashing of hosts Videoton FC Fehérvár.
Champions lose
Elsewhere, Debreceni VSC impressed with a 2-1 home triumph against champions Zalaegerszegi TE. Strikes from Gábor Vincze and Tibor Dombi put Debrecen ahead before Gábor Egressy's second-half reply for Zalaegerszeg.
Honvéd high
Kispest Honvéd FC claimed their first victory of the season, 3-1 at Dunaferr SE. In an exciting first half at the Ezsperantó utca stadium, Sándor Torghelle, Zoltán Hercegfalvi and Attila Piroska registered for the away side and Brazilian import Alex for the home.
Sopron success
MFC Sopron also celebrated their first three points of the season following a 3-1 win against Békéscsabai EFC.
