Tottenham Hotspur FC are back up to second thanks to a 3-2 win over West Ham United FC.

Tottenham Hotspur FC are back up to second in the English Premiership thanks to Anthony Gardner's late deflected goal in a 3-2 home victory against West Ham United FC.

Gardner delight
Defender Gardner's 89th-minute shot from outside the box was diverted by West Ham's Gary Breen past his goalkeeper David James. Previously West Ham had equalised twice in a thrilling last half-hour. Simon Davies's 62nd minute opener was cancelled out by Frederic Kanoute.

Sheringham from the spot
Teddy Sheringham then restored the lead on 71 minutes from the penalty spot after a foul on Spurs debutant Robbie Keane by West Ham's Ian Pearce, who was sent off. But the ten men briefly levelled through Trevor Sinclair on 77 minutes, until Gardner's final word.

City leave it late
Sunday's other game also had a dramatic end, as Manchester City FC substitute Shaun Goater scored a last-minute equaliser to secure a 2-2 draw against Blackburn Rovers FC. David Thompson and Andy Cole had put Blackburn two goals to the good, and when City's Danny Tiatto was sent off, it looked bad for the Manchester side.

Goater the hero
But Nicolas Anelka gave the home team hope with a goal ten minutes from the end, and Goater secured the point to put City up to eleventh, two ahead of Blackburn.
