Fulham FC and Chelsea FC were forced to share west London pride tonight after a 0-0 derby draw.
Top form
That the match ended all square was largely down to the two goalkeepers, Fulham's Edwin van der Sar and Chelsea's Carlo Cudicini. Both were on top form at Loftus Road, Fulham's temporary home while the future of regular base Craven Cottage is decided.
Fantastic save
In the first half of Claudio Ranieri's 100th game in charge of the Blues, Italian shotstopper Cudicini made a fantastic save from Junichi Inamoto, clawing the ball away from the bottom right corner. Barry Hayles actually had Fulham's two best chances of the night - but first fired over and then got the ball stuck under his feet.
Huth denied
Chelsea centre-back Robert Huth, making his first league start, had the Blues' two clearest openings on a night when England midfield player Frank Lampard particularly impressed. Huth made a hash of a header from Gianfranco Zola's free-kick - and forced van der Sar into a brilliant save late on, palming away his 18-metre drive.
'Quality and strength'
When asked after the game about 24-year-old Lampard's England chances, Ranieri said: "He deserves it. Frank is a sure player. He has everything, quality and strength." The former West Ham United FC player has won seven caps, but missed out on the 2002 FIFA World Cup finals.
