SV Werder Bremen failed to regain second place in the German 1. Bundesliga as they were held 0-0 at home by FC Hansa Rostock.

No way past Rostock
Bremen, who beat FC Metalurh Donetsk 8-0 in the UEFA Cup on Thursday, could not find any way past Rostock and are now a place loser than before this weekend's fixtures, three points behind leaders FC Bayern München. Rostock are fifth, a further three points behind.

Quickfire comeback
VfB Stuttgart fell a goal down to TSV 1860 München with Markus Schroth's 22nd-minute goal - but came back to win 4-1 with doubles from Kevin Kuranyi and Viorel Ganea, the first three coming in four second-half minutes. Kuranyi's goals both came within three minutes of the re-start, while Ganea struck on 50 and 90 minutes to move Stuttgart into eleventh, one behind 1860.
