German 1. Bundesliga side 1. FC Kaiserslautern will be without Egyptian international Hany Ramzy for several months, after he was diagnosed with tuberculosis (TB).
TB diagnosis
The 33-year-old defender was admitted to Westpfalz clinical center in Kaiserslautern for medical treatment on 3 September. He was originally suspected to be suffering from pneumonia but was later diagnosed with infectious lung disease TB, and began special therapy yesterday.
Gerets loss
"It is very unfortunate that we have to lose such an experienced player for that long." Kaiserlautern coach Eric Gerets said. "But the most important thing is that Hany Ramzy gets over this complaint."
Disappointing start
Kaiserslautern are already lying bottom of the league after their first six matches, having appointed Gerets earlier this month after the sacking of Andreas Brehme. The whole squad will now be examined by doctors after Ramzy's diagnosis.
