Real Sociedad climbed to the top of Spain's Primera División despite being held in the Basque derby at struggling Deportivo Alavés.
Navarro levelled
RC Celta de Vigo's loss at home against Rayo Vallecano meant that Sociedad moved a point clear, although they seemed to be heading for victory with three minutes to go. Martin Astudillo had put Alavés ahead on five minutes, but Nihat Kahveci and Valeri Karpin scored either side of half-time to put Sociedad ahead. However, Ruben Navarro's 87th-minute leveller ensured the game finished 2-2.
Bolo winner
Celta fell behind in their match after just six minutes through Bolo, but although they were unable to reply in a 1-0 defeat, they remain second after unbeaten Málaga CF were held 1-1 at Athletic Club Bilbao. Indeed, it seemed for much of the game that Santiago Ezquerro's sixth-minute goal would give the home side victory. But Mikel Roteta had other ideas, equalising with ten minutes left.
Novo ends Betis run
Real Betis Balompié's unbeaten start is over as RCD Mallorca moved into the top half with a 1-0 win in Seville. Alvaro Novo's 32nd-minute goal was enough for the visitors as the home side were unable take advantage of Real Madrid CF and Valencia CF’s failure to win on Saturday and move above the European and Spanish champions.
Aloisi double
Sevilla FC fell into the bottom three as they lost 2-1 at Club Atlético Osasuna, John Aloisi's first-half double enough to give the home side their first league win this season, the winner coming a minute before the break after Pablo Alfaro had cancelled out the Australian international's earlier penalty. Francisco Gallardo was sent off six minutes from the end for the visitors.
Roger sparks Espanyol
RCD Espanyol, who earlier today suspended coach Juande Ramos ahead of a possible sacking on Tuesday, moved off the bottom with their first win of the season. New basement club RC Recreativo de Huelva were their victims, Roger's goals on 61 and 72 minutes giving victory to caretaker coaches Ramon Moya and Eloi Perez.
Barcelona slip
Real Valladolid secured a 2-1 home win against FC Barcelona in Sunday's late game to move into the top six. David Aganzo put Valladolid ahead early in the second half, and Valentín Pachó clinched the win five minutes from time to leave Louis van Gaal's side in eleventh place, Javier Saviola's late goal proving only a consolation.
