FK Austria Wien, who lost 1-0 against Portuguese giants FC Porto in the UEFA Cup last Thursday, consolidated top spot in the Austrian Bundesliga by beating SK Sturm Graz 4-0 at the weekend.
Into the groove
Eric Akoto got Wien into the groove just before the half-hour mark, Thorstein Helstad hit the second on 56 minutes Radoslav Gilewicz collected the third soon after and Akoto struck his second to complete the scoring.
Drechsel leveller
Second-placed SV Pasching, meanwhile were held to a 1-1 draw by SV Ried despite going ahead through a Roland Huspek goal. Herwig Drechsel was on target for Ried with 19 minutes to play to rescue a point.
Rare win
SV Austria Salzburg, meanwhile, won for only the fourth time in 16 matches to hand a 1-0 defeat to FC Kärnten, Ewald Brenner scoring the only goal of the game two minutes from time after slamming in Roland Kirchler's cross.
Raking strike
Grazer AK continued their return to form with a 2-0 home victory over SK Rapid Wien, Toni Ehmann heading in from a Martin Amerhauser corner for the opener before Nikola Milinkovic doubled the advantage 16 minutes from time with a raking strike from distance.
Frozen Admira
Basement club VfB Admira Wacker Mödling claimed a point in a 2-2 draw at home to Schwarz-Weiss Bregenz but remain rooted to the bottom of the league.
