SV Ried boosted their chances of finishing runners up in the Austrian Bundesliga - a competition which has virtually become a race for second place - with a 5-0 victory over of FC Kärnten.

Runaway leaders
FK Austria Wien are now fourteen points clear at the summit following a 1-0 defeat of GAK and the real battle is between the chasing pack of SV Pasching, SK Sturm Graz, Ried and SK Rapid Wien.

Demolition job
Ried staked their claim by destroying FC Kärnten 5-0 to move within two points of Pasching, who drew 1-1 with SK Sturm Graz.

Game over
Gunter Steininger, Zeljko Radovic, and Muhammet Akagunduz effectively settled the match in the first half. Radovic added his second on 56 minutes, before Herwig Drechsel fired in penalty with two minutes to go.

Wagner show
Rapid, who Ried lead on goal difference, despatched Schwarz-Weiss Bregenz 6-3 with Rene Wagner stealing the show with a hat-trick.

More goals
Steffen Hoffmann added two more and Stefan Kulovits rounded off proceedings. Laszlo Klausz and Peter Hlinka had hauled the home team back into the game after the visitors raced into an early two-goal lead.
