Article body
Mateja Kezman has moved up to fourth in the race for the ESM Golden Shoe after his double helped PSV Eindhoven close the gap in the Netherlands.
Watch out Ajax
The Yugoslavian striker scored twice in the 3-1 victory at FC Utrecht that moved PSV to within one point of Dutch leaders AFC Ajax. Kezman will hope to add to his domestic tally of 17 goals in 15 matches when PSV take on Ajax next Sunday.
Beattie does it again
Elsewhere, it was a barren weekend for many of the leading contenders. Among those finding the net were Southampton FC striker James Beattie who appeared on the standings for the first time this season after his eleventh goal in eight matches. He is the leading goalscorer in England, one ahead of Newcastle United FC's Alan Shearer who scored in a 1-0 victory against Aston Villa FC.

Only the leading five countries (Spain, Italy, Germany, France and England) on the UEFA Ranking have 2 as their multiplier. This is to emphasise the difference in (international) performance level between the clubs from those countries and those from the other countries.
A player cannot first play in a summer league (e.g. Norway) and then in a winter league (e.g. Spain) and combine the points total for each season.
