Teplice on the rise
The 44-year-old's appointment is reward for his efforts in taking the club from 15th to third place in the Czech 1. lig. Straka led Teplice on a run of eight wins in ten league games after replacing the sacked Frantisek Cipro in September.
European ambition
The former Czechoslovakian international and Teplice assistant coach, whose contract will run until June 2004, said: "We are going to push for a European place." Teplice lie third behind AC Sparta Praha and SK Slavia Praha going into the winter break. Meanwhile, Sparta's former sports director, Ivan Horník, has joined Teplice from FK Viktoria Zizkov where he had been working as team manager.
