FC Metalurh Donetsk have signed FC Spartak Moskva midfield player Eduard Tsykhmeistruk.

FC Metalurh Donetsk have completed the signing of FC Spartak Moskva player and Ukrainian international Eduard Tsykhmeistruk.

Eleven-year tour
The left-sided midfield player returns to his home town of Donetsk after an eleven-year tour that has seen him play for nine clubs in Bulgaria, Ukraine and Russia.

Bulgarian honour
Tsykhmeistruk, capped four times, joined Spartak in 2001 after a year-long loan spell at PFC Levski Sofia, where he was named the Bulgarian league's best foreign player in 2000. After joining Spartak, the Ukrainian was sidelined for six months, as his previous club, FC CSCA Kyiv, were in dispute about the transfer fee.

Russian title
On his return to action he won the Russian title with Spartak in 2001 and played six times in the UEFA Champions League, but in August 2002 the club decided to offer him for transfer. An arranged move to FC Rostselmash Rostov-Na-Donu has fallen through, leaving Tsykhmeistruk out of action for the rest of the Russian season.

Fifth place
Metalurh lie fifth in the Ukrainian Premier League, which resumes in March.
