The home side took the lead after six minutes through Romano Denneboom and doubled their advantage six minutes from the end when substitute Georgios Samaras netted. Zwolle remain deep in relegation trouble, second bottom of the table with 13 points.

Excelsior win away again
Elsewhere, SC Excelsior's impressive away form continued with a 2-1 success at SBV Vitesse. Vitesse, whose UEFA Cup dream ended against Liverpool FC last week, went ahead through Gert Claessens after 18 minutes. But Excelsior hit back to earn their third win on the road this season with goals from Brian Pinas and Said Boutahar.

Alkmaar-Breda postponed
The evening's other game, between AZ Alkmaar and NAC Breda, was postponed due to a frozen pitch. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, NEC Nijmegen beat RBC Roosendaal 3-0 to climb into ninth place. All three goals came in the second half, with Youssouf Hersi scoring in the 57th and 66th minutes before Mike Zonneveld rounded off an impressive victory in the 69th minute.
