Real Madrid CF play a world XI at the Santiago Bernabéu on Wednesday as part of their centenary celebrations.

Stellar cast
Vicente del Bosque's men face an all-star lineup led by Brazil's FIFA World Cup-winning coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, now with UEFA EURO 2004™ hosts Portugal. The 25-man squad features players from 12 countries, including three from Spain and Argentina, and two from Italy and World Cup finalists Germany and Brazil.

European luminaries
AC Milan centre-backs Paolo Maldini and Alessandro Nesta will join full-backs Bixente Lizarazu from FC Bayern München and AS Roma's Cafu in defence, while Valencia CF's Rubén Baraja and Pablo Aimar will figure in midfield alongside Marc Wilmots of FC Schalke 04. RC Deportivo La Coruña striker Roy Makaay is in a forward line also containing Spanish prodigies Fernando Torres of Club Atlético de Madrid and Joaquín Sánchez of Real Betis Balompié.

Collina calls it
Madrid, meanwhile, will be without four regular first-teamers in defenders Michel Salgado, Fernando Hierro and Roberto Carlos, and midfield player Claude Makelele. The match will kick off at 21.30CET, with Italian World Cup referee Pierluigi Collina officiating.
