Gaziantepspor have parted company with Romanian coach Gigi Multescu after a poor run of results.

Pleas rejected
Club chairman Celal Dogan announced that Multescu had handed his resignation to the club's board of directors and that the coach had rejected pleas to remain in charge.

'He insisted on leaving'
"We requested him to stay in charge until we reach the winter break but he insisted on leaving" Dogan said. "We thank him for his work and contribution to our team. We wish him the best in his future career."

Good position
Despite some poor results in recent weeks, Gaziantepspor remain in the fifth place in the league, two points behind Fenerbahçe SK. Considering the comfortable situation of the club, the Romanian coach's resignation has come as something of a surprise.

Match postponed
Multescu had joined Gaziantepspor in the summer and spent just four and a half months in charge before standing down. The side he left will not be in action this weekend as their game against Denizlispor has been postponed due to heavy snowfall.
