Article body
Larsson level second
Shearer's three Premiership goals over the Christmas period have left him fifth on 26 points, while Larsson's four for Scottish Premier League side Celtic FC mean he now sits third with 33 points.
Lucky 13th for Shearer
Shearer struck twice in Newcastle's 4-3 defeat at Bolton Wanderers FC on 26 December and then scored his 13th league goal of the season in the home win against Tottenham Hotspur FC. Larsson, meanwhile, hit a hat-trick as Celtic beat Heart of Midlothian FC last Thursday and then contributed the only goal in the defeat of Dunfermline Athletic FC.
On the up
With the rest of Europe inactive, other Premiership-based players also rose in the standings. James Beattie moved on to 12 goals after scoring in Southampton FC's win against Sunderland AFC, while Arsenal FC's Thierry Henry lifted his total to eleven with goals against West Bromwich Albion FC and Liverpool FC

Only the leading five countries (Spain, Italy, Germany, France and England) on the UEFA Ranking have 2 as their multiplier. This is to emphasise the difference in (international) performance level between the clubs from those countries and those from the other countries.
A player cannot first play in a summer league (e.g. Norway) and then in a winter league (e.g. Spain) and combine the points total for each season.
